Sermons For The Skeptical

Far from endorsing a blind faith, the Bible stresses objective scrutiny of whatever doctrines or beliefs which may cross your path (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22; 1 John 4:1).

The following lessons are not complicated and neither are they filled with philosophical arguments. Rather they are the result of what happened when one man simply took the bible and attempted to answer all those complicated questions or arguments which the secular world never seems to solve.

These sermons were not the result of merely wanting to fill some time or engage in mental exercise. Like many who will read this page, I grew up during the great cultural revolution of the 60's and 70's. A time in which every truth held by past generations was challenged or set aside. Like you, I heard it all. Everything from the idea that no absolute truth exists, situation ethics, and evolution to the idea that the Bible has been corrupted or inaccurately translated.

So, I started on a quest in 1979 to go back and tackle all the objections and arguments that I had heard coming from high school teachers, college professors, movies and television programs, books, and so on.

These lessons are dedicated to all the young men and young women, who were guided down the wrong path by a teacher or professor, and who to this day are still groping in the darkness and trying to find their way back home.

The following were composed by Mark Dunagan, who can be reached at Mailto:info@ch-of-christ.beaverton.or.us
