The New Hermeneutic
The word 'hermeneutic' simply means 'to interpret or interpretation'. A whole range of false ideas are found under the above umbrella. In a nutshell what has become known as the New Hermeneutic compromises probably some of the worst methods of biblical interpretation that are found among us today. In very practical terms the New Hermeneutic embraces the attitude of sitting in judgment over the Word of God, rather than letting that Word judge us. It has become very popular to study the Bible in the attempt to set passages against each other, to find principles or commands which are supposely unworkable in our time. Something is wrong with the attitude which says, 'We are doing many things which contradict the Bible or lack Bible authority....therefore we are justified in departing from the Scriptures even further.' The following sermons were all composed by Mark Dunagan. For suggestions or comments you can reach Mark at
